Description
It was on March 29, 1968 that was laid, by President Houari BOUMEDIENE, the foundation stone of the University of Constantine whose official "birth certificate" was Ordinance No. 69.56 of June 17, 1969. As a reminder, the university center of Constantine was established by the 1961 decree signed by the President of the French Republic and creating in Algeria two university centers: one in Oran and the other in Constantine.
However, you should know that higher education in Constantine began before the creation of this university center with the opening, in 1958, of an annex to the Faculty of Law of the University of Algiers. This structure, installed at the Popular University (currently Abdelhamid BENBADIS located behind the Grande Poste in the city center), provided Constantine students, registered with the University, theoretical education of the first two years of law degree and the preparation of the law degree.
